3 things to do on your day off

Maximising your time outside of work is key to living a happy and fulfilling life. Use your days off to get ahead, relax and restore. To help you make the most of your days off, I’ve put together a few suggestions on what to do.

Go outdoors

It seems obvious, but most of us spend the majority of our time indoors. When you’re off, make a conscious effort to be outside. Ideally you’d detach yourself from all tasks and responsibilities, and wander aimlessly. Filling your lungs with fresh air and appreciating nature does wonders for your mind, body and soul. If you’re unable to relinquish your tasks then take them outside with you! I often prepare my shopping lists in the garden and sit outside my local café to send emails.

Get organised

Getting ahead and ensuring you’re on top of things will bring you an immense sense of calm. Whether you need to rearrange the kitchen cupboard or file a mountain of paperwork, set time aside to get it done. Though finding the motivation to plough through work admin on your day off is tough, the feeling of ticking it off your to-do list trumps all.

Do nothing

This is the most important suggestion, in truth. Give yourself permission to do absolutely nothing. Lie in bed all day, watch TV for as long as you want, eat all that you crave. Fully recharging your batteries often means completely switching off from your duties, tasks and responsibilities. You’ll most likely be even more productive for it!
